The genesis of Afronaut PRO can be traced back to the pages of "Afronautics – from Zambia to the Moon" by Bartek Sabela, a tale of Zambia's ambitious foray into space. Motivated by this narrative, the challenge was set to craft a typeface amalgamating vernacular Arabic script, futuristic typography, and the distinctive lettering discovered during extensive travels through GuinĂ©e, Bissau, Gambia, Senegal, Mauritania, and West Sahara.
Comprising seven weights and featuring diverse letter forms, Afronaut PRO transcends conventional type design. It stands as a testament to cultural diversity, seamlessly fusing influences from disparate corners of the African continent. This typeface not only pays homage to the past but propels us into a typographic future where tradition and innovation coalesce.
Afronaut PRO isn't merely a font; it's a visual journey, a typographic odyssey that transcends borders and beckons us to explore the intersection of tradition and modernity.
